The River

Flowing out of an area known as the Sacred Headwaters, the Nass River is one of the great salmon rivers of Northern BC.  Situated 2 and a half hours north of Terrace, BC, and 15 hours north of Vancouver it is remote and it is beautiful.

The Whitewater

With a flow range between 800 and 1500 cms the Nass is a huge river with many sections. We'll be aiming to paddle 175 kms of river over a four day period. This is a perfect river to get friendly class 3/4 big water experience in a multi-day wilderness adventure.

The Trip

A class 3/4 self-supported multi-day whitewater trip blend of guiding with instruction. The goal of this trip is to get kayakers that are comfortable in whitewater but not multi-days out on an epic adventure while progressing their skills both on and off the water.

The whole package starts off two weeks before the trip on a ZOOM call to discuss plans, ask questions, and get instruction and guidance from our two experienced instructors on what to bring and what not to bring. We want to show you down an incredible multi-day river but also teach you how to do it self-supported and on your own in the future.

Dinners and morning coffee will be provided by your instructors but the rest of your food is on you! Part of the pre-trip ZOOM call will focus on food suggestions and tips.

Terrace, BC will be our jumping off point for the trip. If you choose to drive, we suggest linking it in with some other paddling! Reach out and we'll share some ideas with you on that. If you choose to fly to Terrace, RCK has boats we can rent you for the trip for a small fee.

Once on the river the instructors will take on a guiding role for safety purposes mixed in with impromptu instruction. Paddling a river of this size is not common place for most kayakers so we'll give you lots of pointers on line choice, paddling technique, boat packing tips, and more.

Stunning camping spots is also a highlight of this trip. Although we'll be providing dinners and coffee, this is not a fully catered trip, as that is not the purpose. You'll be bringing your own tent, bivy, or tarp to camp as well as sleeping stuff but we'll always be there to help you out along the way. If you're unsure on what gear to bring, don't worry, again, that's what the ZOOM call is for. If you have an pressing questions prior to that call, please don't hesitate to reach out.
